Bishops Cleeve Colts United 3-6 Cinderford Town

Cinderford Town Under 13s put in a great performance to come back from 3-1 down to win 6-3.

Cinderford started slowly when a hopeful ball forward caused an issue for the Cinderford defence to put Town 1-0 within the first few minutes of the game.  Cinderford reacted well and were level within a few minutes when George Ferson was pushed in the penalty area, striker Joshua Woodroffe stepping forward to convert the penalty and make it 1-1.

Some indecisive defending was once again Cinderford’s downfall as twice they were caught out by balls over the top, with the quick Bishops Cleeve striker causing plenty of problems and putting the home side 3-1 up.  A positional switch changed the shape of the Cinderford performance though with Jimmy Wicks pushing up in to midfield and taking charge of the game, Dan Bowles moving to centre back and producing a great display alongside Will Jesset.

Cinderford soon pulled it back to 3-2 as Joshua Woodroffe scored his second goal of the game, then in the last few minutes before half time his snap shot was saved by the keeper only for the rebound to be tucked home by Gemma Barton to make it 3-3 at half time.

Despite another slow start to the second half by Cinderford they soon took control with the midfield of Gemma Barton, Jimmy Wicks, Riley McLellan, Justin Price, Callum Lanfear and George Ferson all performing superbly thoughout the half.

Substitute Connor Emsley made it 4-3 with a late dash into the box before Callum Lanfear made it 5-3 after more good play by Joshua Woodroffe.

Cinderford started to come under pressure later in the game but the back 4 of Sophie Wicks, Will Jessett, Dan Bowles and Lewis White were all on top form and keeper James Martin was more than equal to the few shots Bishops Cleeve had.

The final goal of the game was probably the best as Connor Emsley whipped in a great corner which was met emphatically by Will Jesset who powered it in to the net.

Some great performances from all the players but man of the match went to striker Josh Woodroffe who has now scored 6 in the last 3 games.
