Cinderford Town set up brand new Football Academy

We’re pleased to announce that Cinderford Town are setting up a Football Academy this summer.

Initially this will be setup as Under 18s only and will be a full time funded academy, all players will play for Cinderford Town Under 18s, train 4 times a week and also undertake a BTEC Level 3 Extended National Diploma in Sport. Initially this will be run for 24 students in the first year expanding to 48 students in year two. We are currently recruiting players for the academy that are in school year 11 / Under 16 teams. Long term Cinderford Town Youth will be providing many of these players and creating a pathway through to the first team.

We believe that long term this will give the club an excellent opportunity to produce players capable of playing at Southern League level as well as bringing in much needed funds to the club.

The academy will run at Forest High School using their classrooms and 3G pitch for training with home games still being played at the Causeway.

The academy will provide local players the opportunity to receive UEFA qualified coaching and complete a BTEC course equivalent to 3 a Levels in the Forest of Dean.

We’re delighted to say that all players that get selected from trials for Cinderford Town Under 16s this year and subsequent years will automatically be offered a place in the Academy the season after, should they wish to accept the place.

A full announcement will be made in the next couple of weeks to the media.

A new website has been setup for the football academy at academy.cinderfordtown.co.uk
