We’re pleased to say that we will once again be applying to enter our Cinderford Town Under 18 team in the Midland Floodlit Youth League in 2019/20.  This is seen by many as the premier competition for Under 18 sides with midweek matches on some of the best pitches around under floodlights.

To that end, we’re delighted that we will be playing home matches on Cinderford Town’s first team pitch at the Causeway Club.

We’re pleased to announce a management team of Rich Wilkins and Sid Martin for our Under 18 side in 2019/20. They will be joined on the coaching staff by Brian Burke.

Rich Wilkins is a UEFA B coach who also holds the full FA Youth Award. He also works at Bristol Rovers as an academy scout and has had previous experience coaching in the Southern League with a spell as caretaker assistant manager for Cinderford Town in 2016.

Sid Martin is a FA Level 2 outfield coach who is also an FA Level 2 Goalkeeper coach. Sid currently runs the existing under 18 team. Sid has coached at the club for a number of years across multiple age groups and is looking to undertake his UEFA B qualification next season.

Finally, Brian Burke will work on the coaching staff. Brian is a UEFA B coach who gained his qualification with Liverpool Football Academy. Brian also had a caretaker spell as Cinderford Town manager in 2016 prior to Paul Michaels appointment.  Brian also has experience of the Midland Floodlit Youth League from previous roles.

We believe that this management team will offer not only great experience, but offers players a great opportunity to develop.  We are also looking to add a sports therapist to the coaching staff, anyone interested in working with the club should contact  committee@cinderfordtownyouthfc.co.uk.

The club will be submitting our application for the Midland Floodlit league in February and will also be applying to enter the FA Youth Cup as well.

As a club, we then plan to look at entering this side into the Hellenic league in 2020/21 as a Cinderford Town reserve team, this will give all players involved a real goal to play at a high level of senior football as well.  Over the past 3 seasons’ our Under 18 sides have had 11 players make the first team match day squad, and the aim of the Under 18s and subsequent reserve squad will be for players to play semi professional football at Southern League or higher level.

Trials for this newly formed side will take place May / June.  Any interested players can fill our the form below and we will then get in contact nearer the time.  We are looking for players who have ambitions that match our own, and that is to play at Southern League / Hellenic level in the next couple of seasons.
